According to Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department, crews responded to a mobile home on McGlothin Street just before 3 a.m.

Mobile home fire on Jacksonville's westside.– The Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations is investigating after one person died in a fire on Jacksonville’s westside Sunday morning.

A hot spot did reignite the fire a short time later, but JFRD returned to the scene and was able put it out.News4JAX spoke with JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer who says they were told that two people lived inside the mobile home. “We spent extensive time searching for the other person and we found out JSO had located them,” Prosswimmer said.

A neighbor who witnessed the fire said when her husband woke up, he saw the home engulfed in flames and tied to knock on windows while she called for help.“Our job is to save lives and our job is to help people and it saddens us when we don’t succeed in that,” Prosswimmer said. While you were sleeping…crews worked a residential structure fire to a mobile home in the 8100 block of McGlothlin street…this fire resulted in a fatality…. The cause is being investigated by the Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations
