The replacement of the First Federal Lakewood Stadium track is nearly complete.
Published: Aug. 25, 2025, 7:51 a.m.The $600,000 project, which was awarded to Vasco Group, includes a brand-new black surface. “The track project went really well,” Lakewood City Schools Athletic Director Robert D.
Slone said. “There was about a week and a half delay based on weather. “The problem is they hadn’t painted lanes in yet, but the surface is perfect. You walk on this track and it’s got a little cush to it. It feels like you could bounce on it pretty well. The surface is amazing. Once we get striped, it’s going to be one of the top-tier facilities in Northeast Ohio.”Courtesy of Lakewood City Schools Other Lakewood High School recreation news finds the roughly $175,000 weight room renovation nearly completed. The reimagining of the roughly 4,600-square-foot facility features new equipment and the addition of a 30-yard-by-seven-yard turf field.“We’re waiting for a few things that get attached to the back of the racks and the logo equipment. For example, the bumper plates and the dumbbells that have to block ‘L’ on them are backordered. They should arrive on Sept. 8.”“The kids who have seen it are amazed,” he said.
