This Saturday will mark the 30th annual National Public Lands Day!
Since 1994, the annual event on the fourth Saturday of September has been the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort , according to the National Park Service .
Last year, over 130 national parks hosted events with 7,600 volunteers donating nearly 41,500 hours of service.in celebration of National Public Lands Day. National Public Lands Day is also one out of 12 days in the year where ain partnership with the National Park Service and other federal agencies.
"Hundreds of thousands of volunteers roll up their sleeves to help restore and preserve public lands of all types and sizes—from iconic national parks and rivers to local urban green spaces and everything in between," wrote the NPS on their website. "National Public Lands Day is special because it provides all lovers of the environment—old and new—an opportunity to show our appreciation for these unique places."Take part in a volunteer work project.
