June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month, and the City of Montgomery is marking it with a special event this weekend.

Montgomery’s Office of Violence Prevention is hosting a “Stop the Violence” walk at 10:00 a.m. at Hyde Park, asking folks to wear orange in honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Month. Across the country, more than 300 people are directly impacted by gun violence every day. Gun Violence Awareness Month was created to draw attention to this tragic reality and demand life-saving change.Last weekend, more than 350 shots were fired at a massive party - sending 13 people to the hospital. About two weeks earlier, three people were shot and killed in an armed robbery in Montgomery.Justice Department charges nearly 200 people in $2.
