Harbin Institute of Technology Life Science Center (HCLS) is seeking highly accomplished researchers to join its cutting-edge life science research programs. Located in Harbin, China, HCLS is a dedicated research hub within the prestigious Harbin Institute of Technology, renowned for its academic excellence and commitment to innovation.

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, boasts three campuses strategically located in Harbin, Weihai, and Shenzhen. Established in 1920, HIT earned recognition as one of China's two model universities in 1951 for its pioneering work in studying foreign higher education models.

Its commitment to academic excellence was further solidified in 1954 when it was designated as one of the nation's six key educational institutions of higher learning. Over the decades, HIT has consistently ascended the ranks of academic prestige. In 1996, it was among the first batch of universities to participate in the former Project 211, a national initiative aimed at bolstering higher education. Further solidifying its position as a leading institution, HIT was selected as one of the nine universities featured in the inaugural batch of the '985 Project' in 1999. Most recently, in 2017, HIT achieved the coveted distinction of being named one of China's 'Double First-class' universities. In 2016, HIT established the Harbin Institute of Technology Life Science Center (HCLS), a dedicated research hub focusing on cutting-edge life science advancements. As HIT's first special zone, HCLS enjoys a high degree of autonomy in academic pursuits, personnel hiring, and financial management. Furthermore, it boasts a comprehensive postgraduate training system. HCLS is equipped with state-of-the-art core facilities, including electron microscopy platforms, imaging platforms, mass spectrometry platforms, and experimental animal platforms. Adhering to international standards, HCLS implements the Tenure-track system and the PI responsibility system, aiming to cultivate a world-class life science research institution within a relatively short timeframe. Research at HCLS spans a broad spectrum of disciplines, including neuroscience, microbiology and immunology, biophysical and structural biology (with a particular focus on cryo-electron microscopy), metabolomics, chemical biology, nano-biomaterials and cellular tissue engineering, proteomics, DNA damage and repair, genome editing, and molecular bio-breeding or translational applications. Candidates who aspire to join HCLS's vibrant research community must possess a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, coupled with several years of postdoctoral or independent research experience. They should have a proven track record of achieving internationally impactful scientific results and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent and innovative research. Most importantly, candidates must exhibit the potential to reach international excellence within their respective fields in the future. HCLS is committed to supporting its researchers by assisting with arrangements for daycare or school for children and job placement for spouses. It also guarantees a graduate student quota, allowing each PI to accept up to 1-2 Ph.D. students and 2-3 M.S. students per year.
