CLEVELAND, Ohio - A 24-year-old Cleveland woman found guilty of fatally shooting another woman in the Cleveland Metroparks last June, was sentenced in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Thursday to 20-25 years in prison.
In April, Lavia Paul pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and discharge of a firearm on or near a prohibited premises for the death of Kiara Jackson, 25, of Cleveland. Cleveland Metroparks Police Chief Kelly Stillman said at 3:35 a.m. on June 11, 2025, a person called 911 to report the shooting in the area of Turney Road and Tioga Avenue.
Both Cleveland police and Cleveland Metroparks police officers arrived on scene minutes later and found Jackson near the drive into Mill Creek Falls.
