Will Ferrell Recalls Getting Awful Notes From Woody Allen and Another Director

Will Ferrell recently shared some cringeworthy anecdotes about receiving less-than-stellar feedback from directors during his acting career. While promoting his new film, Ferrell revealed that he once had a director demand a complete reset on a scene, simply stating, 'Ha ha, that's never going in the movie. Okay! Reset!' He also recalled a less-than-flattering encounter with iconic filmmaker Woody Allen on the set of 'Scoop'.

With over five years of experience covering the latest in entertainment, Emlyn has written about music, fandom, film, television, and awards for multiple outlets including MTV News and Screen Rant. Will Ferrell recently recalled two separate instances in which he received some particularly rough reactions on set — and he wasn't afraid to drop names, either. 'I once had a director come in and go, 'Ha ha, that's never going in the movie.

Okay! Reset!' I had that once,” Ferrell said in a recent interview. He also shared a story about a less-than-kind encounter with legendary filmmaker Woody Allen. 'Woody Allen came up and was like, 'I don't know how to say this, but you're coming off nasty,'' Ferrell said. 'I was like, 'Okay.'' To make matters worse, Ferrell said Allen even reminded him that the film was a comedy, leading him to reply, 'I'm not trying to come off nasty.' Ferrell was starring in Allen's 2006 film 'Scoop' which tells the story of its titular protagonist (played by Radha Mitchell) in two very different storylines: one in which her life is a tragedy, and another in which it is a comedy. Ferrell starred in the comedic version of the tale as Melinda's earnest and unabashedly dorky love interest, Hobie. 'In alternating scenes, Allen creates two versions of the same story — one comic, the other tragic — and what's odd is that the difference doesn't mean anything,' he wrote. 'In each version, everyone speaks in the same coyly overemphatic Allen-ese.
