Pupils will be allowed to add full stops, asterisks, colons, and underscores to words that express their gender neutrality. Some Left-wing councils and universities have already adopted the 'inclusive' language, but it has sparked a debate about the influence of the LGBT charity Stonewall in education. The French not using the gender-neutral pronouns themselves and the opposition of the French education minister have been highlighted.
The new guidance, which comes into force for GCSE exams being sat this summer, has been criticized by the Family Education Trust for promoting an 'LGBTQ+ agenda' to children.
