ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska ’s freshman congressman Nick Begich , R, currently leads the race for dollars raised in the race for the state’s lone congressional seat, according to press releases from the House campaigns.
“Our record-breaking fundraising is a powerful affirmation of the broad support both within Alaska and across the country for the work we’re doing in D.C. on behalf of Alaskans,” Begich said in a press release. “We’re proud of our record, and look forward to earning a second term where we can continue to deliver wins for Alaska.” Independent political newcomer Bill Hill raised about $780,000, a campaign press release reads. Behind him, Anchorage pastor Matt Schultz raised $580,000 — a little over half of what Begich raised. “Matt is building a grassroots style campaign powered by everyday Alaskans, not millionaires and corporate PACs,” said Schultz Campaign Manager Mai Linh McNicholas in a press release. “Alaskans are getting off the sidelines and joining this campaign because they’re tired of rising prices, worsening healthcare, and seeing our future stripped away from us — and they know Matt will deliver real results.”, incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan, R, trails his opponent former Congresswoman Mary Peltola, D, in earnings. According to numbers posted by the campaigns, Peltola raised more than four times the amount Sullivan made in the first quarter. “Alaskans know DC isn’t working for them, and they’re ready for change,” Peltola said in a statement Monday morning. “It’s going to take all of us, but together we’ll take on the rigged system in DC that’s hurting each and every one of these communities. We are going to put Alaska first.”“Senator Sullivan was outraised and outspent by far-left Democrats in both of his previous races, and won them anyway,” Nate Adams, a Sullivan campaign spokesperson, said Monday. “This race will be no different.”Man accused of killing hog farmer, kidnapping and assaulting wife was released on bond days earlierNenana Ice Classic continues as thick ice lingers
