EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio - Pothole repairs were completed on Manhattan Avenue one day after residents reported deteriorating road conditions last month. Some repairs were made at the Manhattan Avenue and Northfield Avenue intersection at the end of March.
Tigheshawn Taylor, who has lived in the neighborhood for 38 years, said the road was in the worst condition she had seen.Multiple neighbors said the patches were installed the day after the initial report.
Residents say more work neededShe said the neighborhood has abandoned buildings, trash near the trestle, and poor road conditions on the street leading to Euclid. “We have the abandos, this street is raggady as what, you know the kids play on this street, there’s trash over there, there’s trash up under the tressel, going up the hill, up the street to Euclid is horrible,” Taylor said.
Taylor, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than three decades, said she is asking for more than temporary fixes. Along Northfield Ave., abandoned homes are falling apart, and illegal dumping is rampant. On Manhattan Ave., there are patches, but the cross street is still filled with yawning holes.
