A Wadsworth man has been arrested after being accused of luring a 10-year-old Canadian girl to send explicit images of herself.
WINNIPEG, Manitoba - A Wadsworth man has been arrested after being accused of luring a 10-year-old Canadian girl to send explicit images of herself.
According to the Manitoba Royal Canadian Mounted Police , police learned in December 2025 that the girl had been lured online to send the photos to someone she believed was a teen boy. Investigators subsequently learned that the girl had been conversing with an adult man who was posing as a teenage boy that she met through a social media platform.
The RCMP said their conversation eventually moved over to text messages, where the man continued to groom the girl and convince her to send images and videos of herself to him. The man also sent photos of himself to the girl, and the Manitoba RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit reviewed the contents found on the electronic devices. Investigators engaged the Homeland Security Investigators at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa to assist in locating the man, the RCMP said.
On February 12, Special Agents from the HSI Cleveland executed a search warrant at a residence in Wadsworth, Ohio and arrested a suspect. Agents also seized the man’s electronic devices, which found evidence of the communication between himself and Manitoba girl.
The RCMP said the man was identified as 32-year-old Cortney Arden Wise III, of Wadsworth, and has been charged by U.S. officials with the following:Wise is in custody in Ohio, and U.S. law enforcement officials believe he may have victimized other children and they are continuing to investigate.
