Expected to have a lot on her plate in the coming months, Liv Crosby has checked a big to-do off her list.
Liv Crosby , a staple of the air rifle podium around the state, has made her collegiate future official. She’ll be taking the ranges of Wofford University in South Carolina. “They were really involving,” Crosby said at an on campus signing ceremony.
“They asked a lot of questions, asked who I was, where I’m from, how it is in Alaska, if it’s really cold, if we have mushing teams at our high schools. It was just a good experience, and the coach was really welcoming.” “We didn’t realize what we were in for when we started on this path, but she’s done an amazing job and we’re super proud of her,” Crosby’s father, Rich, said. The step up comes after countless years behind the sights for Crosby. She first picked up the sport in 7th grade before branching out between both school and club competition, eventually joining Borealis Bullseyes Youth Shooting. “She jumped on board with Borealis and just blossomed and took to the sport. The sport is clearly something that she’s very passionate about and excellent at.” Lumen Christi Principle and rifle coach Brian Ross said. “We’re just thrilled that she’s headed off to shoot at the collegiate level.” Before that though, Crosby has a couple saved rounds to fire off. The biggest happening in the coming days at the Junior Olympics in Alabama. “After I get back, I’m only going to have two weeks of school left as a senior. So it’s going to be a little stressful nearing the end of the school year. But I’m excited to finish it off with a bang,” Crosby said. “Very, very, very excited. We’re wishing her the best at Junior Olympics and the competition she’s going into. And then we will be anxiously watching her performance as she shoots at the college level. So we’re tracking her scores along the way,” Ross said.
