Jacksonville faces a freeze warning and chilly start before a warm, sunny weekend, according to Meteorologist Katie Garner from News4JAX’s The Weather Authority. Stay prepared for sudden temperature drops and practical advice for the days ahead.

December 12, 2025 at 5:30 AM– If you’re just stepping outside, you’re feeling it—this cold is no joke. I’m with you, I’m tired of these morning shivers! This morning brings a Freeze Warning and a Frost Advisory for our area, set to expire at 8 a.

m. We’re seeing temperatures drop to 35 degrees in Jacksonville and Waycross, and it’s even colder in Macclenny at 32 degrees. If you’re closer to the coast, you’re a bit luckier with temps in the 40s. The wind is calmer than yesterday—it’s only in the double digits by the beaches—but you’ll still feel a little bite. Heading out the door? Add that extra layer for yourself and especially for your kids. One mom emailed me saying she picked up hand warmers for the bus stop—honestly, that’s a great idea! Even my own morning with the dog was full of chilly chaos. If you have any funny or cute cold-weather moments, I’d love to see them on SnapJAX:Here’s some good news: the weekend won’t stay cold. In fact, we’re expected to warm well above average. Our typical high is around 68 degrees, but I’m forecasting 72 degrees for Saturday and a gorgeous 71 degrees on Sunday. There’s only a slight chance for a few showers on Sunday, but not enough to mess with your plans. If you’re planning to head to the Jaguars game, or maybe do some Christmas shopping, you’ll be in great shape weather-wise. Brunch, church, or anything outdoors—go for it! I don’t see anything in Exact Track 4D radar that says you’ll need a plan B. One thing to keep in mind—after the weekend warmth, temperatures are expected to tumble again. Monday’s high looks like just 51 degrees, and that colder air is likely to stick around into Tuesday. Mother Nature really keeps us on our toes, doesn’t she?Let me break down what you’re likely to see in the next few days. Today, it’ll reach a high near 69 degrees under clear skies, dipping to about 43 degrees tonight—definitely an improvement over last night’s 30s. Tomorrow is another warmup with 72 degrees and more sunshine. The temperature climb will be slow in the mornings, with only gradual warming through about 11 a.m. Keep those layers handy if you’re leaving early. Looking ahead, highs drop back to the low 50s Monday, then we’re hoping to see a return of the 70s by Wednesday and Thursday. This is a good time to get ahead of the next chill: cover your plants before Monday and Tuesday mornings, and make sure the kids are ready for colder waits at the bus stop.Eliminating Florida property taxes could spike home prices 9% and deepen affordability crisisFreeze warning and frost advisory for Friday morningYouth Crisis Center’s tiny home community houses young mothers in needSurveillance video shows chaos unfolding from shooting at Westside parking lotColor the Weather: Skylar’s Forecast ☀️📚Deadly shooting at Westside parking lotBolles falls to Cardinal Mooney in class 2A state Championship gameGreen Cove Springs residents successfully stop rezone for new housing development▶Volunteers are needed to help do flooring for a Jacksonville woman who lost her apartment in a fireBaker County community pays respects after Jacksonville Port Authority COO dies in crashFormer JSO officer accused of stalking former girlfriend using marked police car, false imprisonmentFormer JSO officer accused of stalking former girlfriend using marked police car, false imprisonmentElementary students learn about finances, footwork with the JagsSheriff credits work of Narcotics Unit with contributing to ‘significant drop’ in overdose deathsInside the new Village at Cedar Hills affordable housing community'Happy not satisfied' is the saying as Bolles preps for state football title shotRichard's Swing Makeover Pt. 15: We're doing a jig'Disgusting': Attorney announces lawsuits by 2 DCPS educators alleging First Amendment violationsFamily describes terrifying ordeal after 4-year-old boy loses ear in dog attackVIDEO: Mom captures driver ignoring school bus stop signal as children prepare to cross streetWhy rain can cause headaches and joint painWoman describes finding truck partially submerged in pond behind her homeNassau County Christmas tree lighting and fireworksVigil for high school senior killed at Westside Burger King
