As of now, customers cannot open new accounts through Halifax's app or website, and the name is expected to vanish entirely by October. A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson states there will be no changes for customers today. Lloyds Banking Group also owns Bank of Scotland and has closed down branches significantly in the past decade, with 95 branches scheduled to shut between May 2026 and March 2027.
