This new restaurant prototype is designed for picking up meals on the go, at any time of the day.
Golden Chick has more than 100 restaurants around North Texas, but the recently opened one at 2828 E. Ledbetter Drive will be the first of its kind. The new restaurant offers both walk-in and drive-thru options, emphasizing picking up orders anytime while on the go.
The lobby design accommodates delivery services for quick pickups, and the kitchen is designed to expedite third-party orders from DoorDash, Uber Eats and other services. The 24-hour space will serve breakfast from 3 to 10 a.m., and it's fried chicken and rolls all other times. Joseph Omobogie, a senior franchisee of Golden Chick, is behind this endeavor. He has 14 restaurants around Dallas. Brian Loescher, president of Golden Chick Franchising, says this new prototype is designed to create new customer experiences. The restaurant is at a prime location between Interstates 45 and 35 on East Ledbetter Drive at Bonnie View Road, allowing commuters easy access. With the new kitchen design, they hope those customers driving through won't be late for their next appointment. This restaurant style demonstrates a big shift in the fast food industry; expediting to-go orders for third-party delivery drivers likely wasn't on the Bingo cards at Golden Chick's meetings 10 years ago. Now, an entire restaurant is dedicated to it, a pandemic remnant, for better or worse. McDonald's has led this shift in optimizing kitchens for fast preparation and delivery. We recently reviewed the Golden Chick's new Pimento Crunchwich Sandwich, and outside of a cold-ish bun, it was a good meal for just $5.99. This sandwich is available through Aug. 3.
