Two individuals from Dayton, Ohio, have been indicted on an additional 108 charges for the abuse and torture of children. Kyle Ray Knox and Kayla Renae Shepherd were previously indicted in November 2024 on four counts of endangering children. The new charges stem from the discovery of serious injuries sustained by an 8-year-old boy in their care. Knox is accused of repeatedly striking the boy in the face.
DAYTON , Ohio (WKEF) -- The two indicted for multiple counts of child abuse have been indicted for an additional 108 charges for abusing and torturing children. Kyle Ray Knox, 38, and Kayla Renae Shepherd were indicted for additional counts for the abuse of an 8-year-old boy. According to the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr.
, at the time the children were found and spoke with police, the injuries of the boy were not easily observable but upon further inspection at the hospital, it was found that the boy was suffering from serious injuries. Knox, the boyfriend of Shepherd, was found to have repeatedly hit the boy in the face. When the children were left home alone, they took the opportunity to flee the home. The couple was indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury on Nov. 27, 2024 for four counts of endangering children. Further investigation showed how extensive the abuse of the children were as they were in the care of Knox and Shepherd, especially regarding the young boy.- 74 counts of Endangering Children – sexual matter- One count of Strangulation – serious physical harm- One count of Aggravated Possession of DrugsKnox is currently in custody in the Montgomery County Jail, being held on a $150,000 bond. Shepherd is out on bond. They will be arraigned on the new charges Thursday, January 9, 2025.The Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck has announced that 38-year-old Kyle Knox and 29-year-old Kayla Shepherd have been indicted on multiple counts of child abuse. On the evening of November 18th, police arrived at the 3300 block of Arlene Avenue after a a caller reported two young children, and 8-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, walking alone in the street.The boy had visible injuries and the two children were taken to the hospital.
