ELYRIA, Ohio - The Elyria Police Department is searching for a burglary suspect who fled during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon. 18-year-old Elliot Guzman resides in the 400 block of Colgate Avenue , and police are searching for him in the Eastern Heights neighborhood.
According to police, Guzman and three other people were arrested Thursday for attempting to burglarize a home on Longfellow Avenue in broad daylight. EPD detectives and patrol officers identified the suspects and took the four individuals into custody after a short pursuit. Police said Guzman is currently on probation, and later posted bond at the Lorain County Jail on burglary, drug and weapon-related charges. On Saturday afternoon, Guzman was carrying what police believed to be a firearm into a black Cadillac sedan, and when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Guzman fled again.Officers said they have established a perimeter and requested a K9 unit from the neighboring North Ridgeville Police Department to assist in the search.
