If you’ve already been acquainted with “The Hounds of Baskerville,” don’t be too quick to write this play out of your plans. You may know the story of Baskerville, but you don’t know Ken Ludwig’s version.

Like the theatre? You’ve come to the right place! WSFA 12 News is raising the curtain on all the wonderful productions being performed in the River Region’s thriving community theatre scene. This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Montgomery ’s one and only professional Theatre, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival . Welcome to Stage 12 . MONTGOMERY , Ala. -

With only 5 actors, but upwards of 40 characters in the play, Sherlock and Holmes always stay Sherlock and Holmes, while the other three take up the extra 38+. Watch the cast transform into new characters again and again in increasingly goofy ways as the audience becomes acquainted with the shtick. The stage is just as dynamic as the characters. Clever use of props, pantomime, and blocking take the viewers to a dozen locations all on one stage.

The viewer is further immersed when sounds come from all around the theatre to make the audience feel as though they are the ones being stalked by a shadowy beast or chasing an unknown killer. Just the same, light projections and digital screens around the stage cast massive scenes of pouring rain, whipping winds, and rolling hills in clever optical illusions that make it feel almost real.
