JUNEAU, Alaska - Three Juneau residents were arrested in two separate drug busts in late March that included a police stop that resulted in an escape attempt in Alaska’s capital city. The first bust pinpointed a residence on the 6000 block of the North Douglas Highway on March 26.

Investigators with the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs Task Force showed up around 8 a.m. with a search warrant stemming from an “ongoing” investigation that began in February. Investigators stopped 51-year-old Karenza Bott in her driveway and arrested her with what police say was roughly $45,300 worth of drugs, including 347 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of fentanyl, and 14 grams of cocaine. Bott was arrested and charged with three counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, as well as two counts of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. In the second bust just one day later, investigators pulled over 50-year-old Jeremiah Pond, who was seen driving over the speed limit and crossing the center line. Officers pulled him over and 40-year-old Whitney Gannon, who was in the passenger seat. While stopped, Juneau police say Pond took off and later struck a guardrail. Police did not chase after Pond and Gannon. Their vehicle was later found near Statter harbor, according to Juneau Commander Matthew Dubois. Juneau police used a search warrant to look through their home on the 11000 block of Mendenhall Loop Road, where authorities found 360 grams of fentanyl, eight grams of methamphetamine, and over $8,000 in cash. The drugs at that home were valued at $180,000. Pond was arrested and charged with failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, two counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, four counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, and a probation remand. Gannon was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, and two counts of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. In all, the two busts brought in $225,300 worth of drugs, including 370 total grams of fentanyl, 355 grams of meth, and 14 grams of cocaine.5 rescued from grounded vessel in AleutiansAnchorage votes on propositions & Assembly, school board seatsOver 40 guns seized after SWAT standoff at Fairbanks home amid alleged union hall attack plotBills introduced to satisfy Rural Health Transformation requirements, but passage may not be the point
