A former teacher has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Wimberley Independent School District and the Hays County officials who brought charges against him of inappropriately touching students for which he was acquitted in a jury trial last year. David Schachter , of Kyle , taught eighth-grade English at Danforth Junior High School in Wimberley before being arrested in September 2022 on a charge of offensive touching, a misdemeanor.

Hays County man gets life in prison in child sex abuse case He accuses Christi Moeller, who was then principal at Danforth, and Ashley Martinez, a deputy with the Hays County Sheriff's Office who was the school's resource officer, of conspiring to violate his civil rights by making false statements about him and failing to properly investigate the allegations of inappropriate touching.
