EasyPark to offer more two-hour parking options in downtown Anchorage.
ANCHORAGE , Alaska - Starting Friday, it may be easier to find a parking space in downtown Anchorage , at least on the west side of town.
EasyPark has converted 26 meters on Christensen Drive from 10-hour parking to two. EasyPark Director Jeff Read said the change was requested by businesses and visitors who had difficulty finding spaces in that area.
“They want to park as conveniently as possible to the business they want to go to, so having that 2-hour meter creates that turnover at the curb to bring people into the nearby businesses,” Read said.has made another change for them. It’s created a new permit zone on Second Avenue that allows permit holders to park at those meters all day.
Read added that EasyPark already offers significant discounts at its garages and surface lots for downtown restaurant and retail workers. Anchorage meters are enforced from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. But just because parking is free on weekends, Read said other rules still apply. You can’t park longer than two hours on a two-hour meter, and could still get a ticket if you don’t move.
