It's been one week since a double murder on the East side. The community is still shaken.It happened at Krumm Park last Monday. We learned one victim is 18-year-old Jakwaun Kimbro . While police are looking for the shooter, neighbors tell WSYX they're still having problems with street lighting in the area.
. People tell us street lighting is inconsistent. The last time we spoke to the division of power, it said, on its end, there are no outages, but it is working to figure out what's going on. "It's been cool, still on the edge. But you have to be," one neighbor around Krumm Park said. He wanted to remain anonymous. Neighborhoods around the park are seemingly quiet after last week's double homicide rattled the community.searching for two suspectsIn the meantime, people expressed concerns about that search and what they're calling "Lack of lighting" near their homes.Neighbor: "No, not really. I don't like it being pitch black." "I would like to see lighting in the alley because I think that's a pathway for delinquency. That's the nicest way to say it," Eric Moore told us. Moore has lived near Krumm Park for years. Last week we went out to the area of the park. Specifically 8th, 9th and 10th Avenue. As it got darker, the street lights did not come on. At the time, the Columbus Division of Power said there is an active ticket for a light on 10th that was filed the night of the shooting, and there was a repair made to a light on 11th Avenue recently.People tell us the lights are only on "sometimes" and want them to be shining on a regular basis.Neighbor: "Yes, that's it. More consistency." WSYX is still working with the division of power to figure out what the disconnect here is and will keep you posted.Stay Connected
