Quarterback Isaiah Mackey capped East Central's game-winning drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass to beat Judson 30-23 in the District 29-6A opener.

Quick Take: East Central senior quarterback Isaiah Mackey threw what might have been a game-deciding end zone interception early in the fourth quarter and knew if his team lost, it was on him. Fortunately for Mackey, he got a chance at redemption. With 1:40 left in the game, Mackey led East Central down the field and capped off the drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass to beat Judson 30-23 in the District 29-6A opener on Friday at Hornet Stadium .

Mackey first found junior receiver Joseph Kelly for an 18-yard gain, and senior running back Myron Robinson rushed for 19 yards two plays later. On the next play, Mackey eluded the Judson's pass rush and spotted senior receiver Frank Lopez streaking toward the middle of the end zone. Mackey got the ball out of his hands just before being tackled, and Lopez hauled in the catch over multiple Rockets defenders. “The boys blocked well,” Mackey said. “O-line came through. Receivers came through.
