New charging documents show a Dauphin County suspect had prior criminal charges in Puerto Rico and flew there after the alleged killing and sexual assault

Newly obtained charging documents show the suspect in a rape and homicide case in Dauphin County had a criminal history in Puerto Rico . Authorities say 32-year-old Rafael Duran Malave fled to the U.S. territory after allegedly raping and killing 24-year-old Amanda Makor in Susquehanna Township .

Four charges in Puerto RicoNew information from Puerto Rican authorities shows Duran Malave has a criminal history there, including charges dating to 2015. Those charges include aggravated assault in San Juan and conjugal abuse in Las Piedras, also known as intimate partner violence. In 2019, he was charged with violating the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act in Las Piedras.Pennsylvania charging documents from March 28 match Duran Malave’s full name, date of birth, eye color, hair color and race in the Puerto Rican charging documents. His date of birth is listed as Sept. 19, 1993, making him 32 years old.Suspect flew to Puerto Rico after alleged killingAuthorities have not said how he made his way to Susquehanna Township. Charging documents in the most recent case say he bought a ticket at Harrisburg International Airport the same night Makor died to fly to Puerto Rico.The Susquehanna Township Police Department told WGAL News 8 it is not releasing any new information while the investigation is active. The Puerto Rico Police Department said no Pennsylvania police have contacted them about the investigation thus far. WGAL reached out to U.S. Marshals in Puerto Rico for updates.
