A woman was hit and killed by a car along a Fairview neighborhood street Tuesday morning, according to Anchorage police.
Officers were dispatched to East 20th Avenue and Ingra Street at 6:01 a.m. The woman was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation, APD said. Police told Alaska’s News Source there was no further information to share at the time of publication.
The northbound lanes of Ingra Street from Fireweed Boulevard to 15th Avenue and E 20th Avenue from Juneau Street to Ingra are closed while investigators with the Major Collision Investigative Unit process the scene.Last year, APD reported 15 pedestrians died in vehicle collisions, the highest it has seen in a decade. The year prior, the department reported 14.on in the past, including September 2024 when multiple pedestrian vs. vehicle collisions occurred.and seven other street locations.
