The former Texas A&M University athlete finished second in the Men’s 200M Individual Medley at the recent Olympic trials with a time of 1:55.83.

The Rio Grande Valley 's Shaine Casas secured a trip to the 2024 Summer Olympics after his performance at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials earned him a spot on Team USA. Casas, 24, finished second in the Men’s 200M Individual Medley on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with a time of 1:55.83. The finish was enough to qualify him for the Paris Games. “I think I’m going to remember that race for the rest of my life,” Casas told the Associated Press .

Boerne Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman gets feet wet at U.S. Olympic Trials Casas, who was born in California and attended high school in McAllen, is an 11-time world championship medalist and 3-time NCAA champion, according to the swimming news organization SwimSwam. Casas attended Texas A&M University in College Station where he was on the men's swimming and diving team from 2018-2021.
