WBRC has identified the man arrested in connection to a high-speed chase that took place on Easter Sunday.
high-speed chase that took place on Easter SundayOn Sunday, April 5, Calera Police were notified of a retail theft at Calera Walmart at 2:20 p.m. Authorities say the suspects, a man and a woman, drove away from the scene, taking Highway 31 , then Highway 87 and finally ending up back on Interstate-65 Southbound.
Officers say the suspects, one now identified as Brian Keon Davis, were driving recklessly. They sped away from responding officers, hitting speeds of 130 mph in a 55-mph zone. All of this was done with Davis’s two young daughters inside the vehicle. Police say they backed off the vehicle when they learned children were inside. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Chilton County authorities picked up the chase which ended in Autauga County. According to authorities, the vehicle’s tires were spiked by ALEA after the suspects proceeded the wrong way on I-65. After the tire spike, Davis and the woman tried to run away before being caught. Authorities say that along with the two small kids in the car, there were two other small kids left at Calera Walmart when Davis and the woman drove away from the scene.Davis is from Montgomery, according to authorities, and has prior retail theft charges. In connection to this theft and chase, he’s been booked into the Shelby County Jail on the following charges:Domestic violence: Reckless endangerment, because the children were in the vehicle.Retail theftThe woman accompanying Davis has also been charged but her name has not been released. However, Calera Police say she has 46 prior arrests across four states and has multiple felony warrants with both statewide and nationwide extradition. Officials say she was released to the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office.This is ongoing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
