A dramatic pursuit captured on bodycam video shows a New York City police officer on horseback chasing and apprehending a suspected purse thief in Manhattan. The suspect, who was later identified as having a prior murder conviction, was stopped by a pedestrian before being taken into custody.

A New York City police officer on horseback chased down and detained a suspected purse snatcher in Manhattan during a dramatic pursuit that was captured on bodycam video. "Stop running," the mounted officer repeatedly yells at the suspect as the house gallops down city streets. Footage shows the suspect, who has not been identified, sprinting across busy streets, in between parked cars, along sidewalks, as well as under scaffolding. The incident unfolded late Wednesday morning after a woman reported her purse had been stolen. The mounted officer quickly responded and pursued the suspect. The officer continued to order the suspect to stop, but she didn't stop running, at times denying she had taken the purse. A pedestrian then stopped the suspect, with the officer hopping off his horse and putting the woman in handcuffs.Authorities said she had been convicted of murder in the April 2000 fatal shooting of a cab driver and served time in prison before being released.
