) - The grand opening of the new Hornet Golf Clubhouse at Alabama State University is set for Thursday, offering the school’s golf team a place for training, recruiting, and managing equipment. The facility is among the first on-campus golf clubhouses at a historically Black college and university.
Inside the state-of-the-art facility is a putting green, a fully equipped kitchen, and a lounge area for golfers. “This is a state-of-the-art facility that is rare not only among HBCUs but across Division I programs,” Director of Athletics Dr. Jason Cable said. “Our golf clubhouse and training facility will add tremendous value to the student-athlete experience at Alabama State. Golf is a global sport that extends far beyond graduation and plays a major role in professional and social environments. This facility will allow us to continue preparing our student-athletes for success both on and off the course.” The clubhouse will also support the university’s “CommUniversity” initiative by fostering engagement with the Montgomery community. It represents a major investment in ASU Athletics, enhancing student-athlete development, recruitment, and overall competitiveness. “We will be among the first HBCUs to have a facility like this located on our campus,” said ASU President Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr. “What we are unveiling is the result of a collective vision by ASU’s leadership team to help us train and develop scholar golf-athletes and generate interest among student-golfers nationwide to join Hornet Nation.” The grand opening is open to university leadership, student-athletes, alumni, community members, and supporters on Thursday, April 9 at 9 a.m. Hornet Golf Clubhouse is located near the Houston Markham Football Complex.US and Iran agree to 2-week ceasefire as Trump pulls back on threatsI-65N near Montgomery/Lowndes County line back open after crashAlabama Spring Day happening next Saturday
