A long-running legal dispute between two wealthy couples in London has escalated into a costly feud over incessant dog barking. The conflict began when one family acquired guard dogs for security, leading to complaints from their neighbors about noise and lifestyle disruptions. Despite the dogs being rehomed, the legal battle continues, with tens of thousands of pounds at stake.

A bitter legal feud between two affluent couples living side by side in an upscale London neighborhood has dragged on for five years, with tens of thousands of pounds at stake.

The dispute began in 2021 when Mohammed and Saima Uddin, business owners with a young daughter, acquired two German Shepherd guard dogs to protect their home in Streatham, south London. Their neighbors, Filippo Alloatti, a 47-year-old city financier, and his French wife Lucie, soon complained about the incessant barking, which they claimed disrupted their children’s homework, caused sleepless nights, and forced them to abandon their home on weekends and during school holidays.

The Alloattis, who also owned a second property in a fashionable Kent seaside resort, alleged that the dogs were left alone in the garden for long periods, rarely walked, and had minimal interaction with the Uddins. They further claimed that the noise was so severe that Lucie had to shut down her home-based boutique clothing business, and their social life suffered as they could no longer host guests.

The conflict escalated when the Alloattis sued the Uddins in the High Court, seeking £25,000 in damages, an injunction to rehome the dogs or confine them at night, and compensation for the costs of staying away from home. Initially, the Uddins defended themselves, arguing that the dogs only barked normally.

However, as legal fees mounted, they eventually rehomed the dogs, hoping to end the dispute. Yet, despite the dogs being removed, the legal battle continues. Mohammed Uddin told the Daily Mail that the case persists even though the dogs are no longer on the property, stating, 'We could not live under that kind of surveillance anymore.

' The Alloattis' legal team, Forsters, declined to comment. The feud has also involved minor disputes, such as the Uddins placing wheelie bins in a shared passageway, which the Alloattis claimed blocked their access. While the Uddins insist they no longer obstruct the passageway, the Alloattis have maintained a detailed diary of the barking incidents, recording up to 74 episodes in a single 24-hour period.

The ongoing legal saga highlights the deepening rift between the two families, with no resolution in sight despite the removal of the dogs
