In a reboot, Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, will clash with Skeletor on Snake Mountain, a location that will be featured in live action for the first time. Snake Mountain, chiefedly known as Skeletor's lair, will also be shown off after decades of being presented in toy form, animated TV shows, and comics.

Masters of the Universe director Travis Knight has confirmed that one of the most iconic Eternia locations will be featured in live action for the first time in this reboot.

Just like in the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie, the latest film adaptation of the popular toy franchise will see Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, clashing with Skeletor. This time around, however, Snake Mountain, chiefly known as Skeletor’s lair, will also be shown off after decades of being presented in toy form, animated TV shows, and comics.

It’s one of several "eye-popping iconic locations" from Eternia that Knight was determined to include in this reboot on the 2026 summer movies schedule. During a roundtable interview that ScreenRant participated in, Knight recalled working with production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas, who came up with some “absolutely bananas” early designs for Snake Mountain.

While the filmmaker shot down those initial ideas because they didn’t look faithful enough to Skeletor’s stomping grounds, he and Dyas eventually arrived on a design that not only fulfilled that requirement, but also included the bony antagonist’s distinctive throne: So, ultimately, we have this incredible version of Snake Mountain that's beautiful. He designed this incredible throne room, which is where that fight that we saw in that little montage takes place.

That sequence, as was mentioned to you, was incredibly difficult to shoot. We did that over a series of weeks. And we have Skeletor's throne of bones in there, which absolutely looked like Skeletor's throne of bones. Everybody that we brought by the set would do two things.

They would hold the sword aloft and say the phrase, and they would climb up those stairs to sit on Skeletor's throne. I also did that. Snake Mountain’s background differs depending on the kind of Masters of the Universe story being told, but the one thing these numerous incarnations have in common is that it's where Skeletor does his scheming.

Now, fans of the franchise can look forward to Nicholas Galitzine’s Prince Adam/He-Man, batting Skeletor, played in this movie by Jared Leto, on the villain’s home turf. What’s unclear at this point is how much Snake Mountain will be seen in Masters of the Universe beyond the action sequence Knight mentioned. Traditionally, Skeletor’s goal in the He-Man movies and TV shows is to conquer Castle Grayskull, which is also located on Eternia.

He, along with various other villains, believe that the power contained within its walls will allow those who wield it to conquer Eternia and the entire universe. However, in this new cinematic take on Masters of the Universe, Skeletor has conquered Eternia in the 15 years that Adam has been trapped on Earth and trying to find the Sword of Power.

That doesn’t necessarily mean, though, that Skeletor has managed to break into Castle Grayskull and vanquish its protector, Morena Baccarin’s Sorceress. Whatever the case, eventually there will come a point where Adam and Skeletor come to blows within Snake Mountain, meaning the location still holds importance for the latter character.

Skeletor will be aided in his schemes during this new movie by Alison Brie’s Evil-Lyn, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson's Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Sam C. Wilson’s Trap-Jaw, among others. Adam’s allies in his mission to free Eternia from Skeletor’s clutches include Camila Mendes’ Teela, Idris Elba’s Man-At-Arms, Cringer/Battle-Cat, Kristen Wiig’s Roboto, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto.
