Guild Theatre Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Concerts and Screenings

Menlo Park’s Guild Theatre is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a series of concerts featuring artists like The Psychedelic Furs, Margo Price, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, alongside a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” with a shadow cast performance. The theater aims to honor its history and continue as a vibrant arts venue.

“Reaching 100 years is an extraordinary milestone for any venue, let alone one that has meant so much to so many generations on the Peninsula,” says Pete Briger, board member of Peninsula Arts Guild, the local nonprofit organization that independently owns and operates this historic theater located at 949 El Camino Real,100th Anniversary Concert Series is jampacked with acclaimed music acts, including famed new wave faves The Psychedelic Furs, superb country singer-songwriter-guitarist Margo Price, increasingly popular garage/punk act Bad Nerves and the amazingly talented bluesman Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. It also includes a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which is very fitting givenlong history of hosting midnight screenings of the cult-classic film. Bawdy Caste, San Francisco’s longest-running “Rocky Horror Picture Show” shadow cast, will also be there for this June 14 screening. The series is intended to “honor the theater’s rich past while spotlighting its vibrant present as one of the Bay Area’s most intimate and desirable destinations for live performances,” according to a news release.

“The Guild Theatre has always been more than just a building; it’s a gathering place, a memory-maker, and a living reminder of how the arts connect communities across time,” says Thomas Layton, board member of Peninsula Arts Guild.
