Ford is recalling nearly 200,000 electric vehicles because an issue with the door latch can trap customers inside the car. According to an announcement from the National Highway Safety Administration, the automobile manufacturer is recalling 197,432 Mustang Mach-E vehicles, model years 2021-2025.
If the car’s battery is low, the electronic door latches can remain locked once the driver or front passenger exits and shuts the door. The issue could trap someone who is unable to unlock the door from the inside, such as a child.People are also reading… According to the NHSA, Ford dealerships will update the Powertrain Control Module and the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C software, free of charge. The automaker mailed letters to vehicle owners notifying them about the risk on June 23. Ford plans to mail a second round of the notification letters on Sept. 29.
