A Las Vegas man was charged in connection with a crash that left one man dead and multiple people injured.
A Cuyahoga County grand jury has indicted Zayd Alameen , 22, of Las Vegas, on murder charges and more for allegedly stealing a car, speeding away and then causing a deadly crash.
Alameen is facing the following charges:Two counts of aggravated robbery One count of aggravated vehicular homicide One count of unauthorized use of a vehicle At about 5:20 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to the intersection of West 150th Street and Lorain Avenue for a multiple-car crash. Police confirmed that five cars were involved in the crash. As the GMC approached the Warren and West 150th intersection, it changed lanes and hit two other car driving westbound.
One of the cars that the GMC hit pushed into a fourth car and then went into the eastbound lane, hitting another car. Five people were taken to the hospital:21-year-old manThe 54-year-old man later died from his injuries. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as James Michael Cook of Fairview.of Tennessee, who was weeks away from graduation and has just gotten engaged, is still recovering.
Investigators later learned that the GMC was stolen moments before the deadly crash from the 3700 block of West 130th Street. The Cleveland Division of Police’s Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the crash. This defendant turned a stolen car into a missile and struck these innocent victims at 107 mph on Lorain Avenue during rush hour. His conduct was beyond outrageous, and sadly, he cost one victim their life, devastating that family, and injured many others.
Alameen will be back in court for his arraignment in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court at a later date. He is currently being held on his $50,000 municipal bond. Copyright 2026 WOIO. All rights reserved.
