A complex drug ring operating in Mobile, Alabama, has been targeted by law enforcement, resulting in the arrests of several individuals and the expected guilty pleas of two additional defendants. The investigation, which involved surveillance and the use of hidden recording devices, uncovered a network of individuals allegedly working under the direction of Glennie Antonio McGee. The case has taken a significant turn with the announcement of guilty pleas from William Thomas Agee Jr. and Antonio Dwone Reed, two members of the alleged drug trafficking operation.
A lawyer for Echandza Dianca Maxie, 42, of Mobile, argued that the conversations were subject to the marital communications privilege and, therefore, inadmissible. The ruling comes as two more defendants in the case have announced their intention to plead guilty. They are William Thomas Agee Jr. and Antonio Dwone Reed. They are accused of working for a sophisticated drug ring headed up by Maxie’s husband, 41-year-old Mobile resident Glennie Antonio McGee.
Prosecutors allege that law enforcement officers saw a 3-year-old child in March walk out of the home of one of McGee’s lieutenants, Tierra Tocorra Hill, and try to get rid of cocaine that was in a backpack. As part of the investigation, according to court records, investigators placed secret video and audio recording devices in McGee’s Cadillac Escalade. Maxie, who also is involved in the case, is facing charges related to her alleged involvement in the drug trafficking operation
