Hours after leading the Spurs to a win in his homeland, the French superstar learned he won't be a starter in San Francisco.
Victor Wembanyama won't be going to San Francisco for the All-Star Game honored as a starter from the Western Conference . The players honored as starters from the West include Golden State 's Stephen Curry , Oklahoma City 's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander , the Los Angeles Lakers ' LeBron James, Phoenix 's Kevin Durant and Denver 's Nikola Jokic .
Wembanyama also had 11 rebounds, six assists and five blocks at Accor Arena, where he helped the French secure a silver medal last summer at the Paris Olympics. For the season, Wembanyama is averaging 24.6 points per game, 10.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and an NBA-best 4.0 blocks, making him the frontrunner for the defensive player of the year award. “Put him in the All-Star game,” Spurs point guard Chris Paul said recently. “He deserves it, man.
