Yesterday was fueled by quite a bit of Browns news, although little of it was surprising. Oh, and some media outlets are starting to create high expectations for Taylen Green by obsessing over him at mini-camp. It’s another OBR Daily Newswire.
The other day, I got this weird email from the NFL , two of them, actually, heralding the 2026 NFL schedule release with the usual NFL pomposity and grandeur.
Only the NFL could turn the release of their upcoming year’s schedule of games into a multi-media event complete with live TV productions, massive graphics, and, I’m assuming, cheerleaders. I’m assuming, because I haven’t watched the NFL official production for years, preferring instead our usual schedule release show.
Plus, schedule leaks are pretty common, and usually, the Browns’ schedule is largely known before the official announcement anyway.pieces linked from it, to determine when the announcement was actually going to be announced. Nothing was listed. Here was this fancy schedule announcement with all the trimmings, talking about how thrilling it would be, but there was NO mention of when the hell it was going to be..
All this because the league had been struggling to get the schedule together at this late time, but it sounds like they finally got it figured out, probably by calculating out some way to make the Browns’ schedule as difficult and travel-intensive as possible. All powerful forces work against the Browns, I’m convinced, because I don’t want to admit that the dysfunction over the years may have come from.
Anyway, I was sort of relieved to know that even the powerful, rich NFL can struggle with what appears to be a really complicated math problem. Five more days, folks. Start clearing your Thursday evening. With that mystery solved, I could turn my attention to the various bits of news coming out of the rookie mini-camp.
Even though they weren’t there, the real contenders for the quarterback job, Shedeur, at least, managed to make some headlines by. I don’t follow Instagram, so, fortunately, one of those Twitter content reposters found it and made a big deal out of it. I don’t consider it much of a story, but at some point, publicly talking about criticism and how it’s not important to you starts looking like the opposite.
So, there’s that.as being incredibly physically gifted, with the ball jumping out of his hand and sometimes going to where it was supposed to go. All of this looked damn impressive when it worked, per Pete Smith’s.
Green will get a huge amount of attention as they run around in shirts and shorts because of his physical gifts and the fact that he’s a quarterback, but before you get too fired up about his potential, a trip to visit his college stats indicates athe entire 2026 season - his second straight year lost to a neck injury. There were few hopes that JOK would play this year, and the notion that his career is over isn’t remote.
The financial implications are significant, too, as the Browns will have to navigate hisrelishing the chance to suit up together), and let’s just say their sibling rivalry sounds... intense. Good thing they can channel that energy on the practice field now. Notes from around the division are, locking in officiating stability through the decade, so at least we’re pretty set that the officiating won’t get noticeably worse thanks to replacement refs.
Browns Sign 8 Draft Picks, Including Top Pick; 12 Undrafted Rookie FA’s as Minicamp Begins; JOK to Miss 2026 ‘Star Fox’ is returning this summer with a shiny ‘Star Fox 64’ remake for Nintendo Switch 2 full of unique features I don’t own a Nintendo Switch. In fact, my Xbox S-24-XP, or whatever the hell Microsoft’s inept marketing department calls it, lies unused and dusty in my entertainment system, largely unused, because I spend all my time on my computer instead.
But I might have to reconsider, given that Starfox 64 has great memories for me of playing it back in the day with my eldest daughter when she was young. I was the first to complete it, probably the last time I beat any of my children at anything video-game related. I used to be really into video games when I worked a real job, with real time off, rather than worrying about the OBR 24x7 as I do now.
I have a MacBook and a Mac Mini hooked up together to do work and run AI apps, and playing with that has pushed video games to the side. Sigh. When not ssh-ing into his Mac Mini terminal for some damn reason, Barry McBride is the Publisher and Founder of the OBR and bloviates this nonsense every morning.
