Olmsted Falls , Ohio - Three family-owned businesses were destroyed in a fire Friday night at a business plaza in on Columbia Road in Olmsted Falls .

Falls Family Restaurant, The Eye Place and Keith Jewelers were all lost in the blaze. Fire crews from four departments battled the flames.

“What’s going through my mind? That’s my livelihood,” said Roger Novak, owner of Falls Family Restaurant. The Olmsted Falls community is organizing multiple fundraising efforts to support the three businesses. Jessica Cliff, co-owner of Matteo’s Italian Restaurant and vice president of the Olmsted Falls Chamber of Commerce, said her restaurant will host a dine and donate event where a portion of the funds will go to the businesses impacted by the fire.

“The chamber is ready to make donations to all three businesses that were affected and ready to facilitate any efforts that the community puts on,” Cliff said. Cliff also told 19 News that if anyone wants to drop off money or checks for the businesses, she is collecting them at her restaurant. Tom Helmick and Donna Winters with the Olmsted Chambers of Commerce said other local businesses like Rise and Grind and Gibbs are also organizing fundraisers.

“We are going to be putting information on our website and trying to facilitate as much as we can through that and our Facebook page. As fundraisers come forward we can get people that information,” they said. Novak said the three business owners have been friends for 30 years and are all facing the same uncertainty. Cliff said she understands the impact on the business owners.

“It is extremely sad and I can’t even begin to understand what these employers are going through right now,” Cliff said. “It just makes so much sense for me to head up these efforts and be an integral part of the efforts to support our friends and other local businesses. ”The owners of all three businesses say they are leaning on the community as they figure out what comes next.
