This news compilation covers a range of stories: the successful opening of the Michael Jackson biopic, a frightening accident on a fairground ride in Spain, the rise of at-home health testing, Donald Trump's unexpected cancellation of peace talks and direct communication with a reporter, and an actress's struggle with airline accessibility.

The biopic about Michael Jackson dominated the box office in its opening weekend, earning $97 million domestically and $217 million globally, quickly recouping its $200 million production cost.

Despite largely negative critical reception – a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – the film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop, achieved the biggest opening weekend for any biopic ever. It was the second-highest opening of the year, trailing only another recent release. That film, a children’s animated movie, slipped to second place after holding the top spot for three consecutive weeks.

A terrifying incident occurred at the Seville Fair in Spain on Friday night when a cable snapped on a bungee-style catapult ride, injuring four people, including two children. Dramatic videos show the ride launching passengers high into the air before the cable failure sent the capsule plummeting towards the ground. The children sustained minor injuries, and others on the ground were hurt by falling debris. Emergency services treated the injured on-site and transported two to a health center.

Spanish National Police are investigating the cause of the accident, with local police having already inspected the ride’s documentation. Increasingly, individuals are turning to at-home blood tests to gain deeper insights into their health beyond annual physicals. Companies like offer panels measuring up to 60 biomarkers – including cholesterol, testosterone, and vitamin B12 – across cardiovascular, metabolic, and hormonal health.

Users can choose testing frequency (monthly, quarterly, or bi-annually) and receive personalized recommendations for diet, supplements, exercise, and lifestyle changes based on their results. The process involves a simple blood sample collection at home and overnight shipping to a CLIA-certified lab. Former President Donald Trump abruptly canceled planned U.S.-Iran peace talks and personally intervened by texting a reporter, Caitlin Doornbos, instructing her to “come home!!! ” shortly before the cancellation was publicly announced.

Trump cited wasted time and travel, asserting the U.S. holds all the leverage. The Iranian delegation subsequently departed Islamabad without meeting U.S. officials. Actress Marissa Bode experienced a distressing travel ordeal when she was denied boarding a Southern Airways flight in Britain due to her wheelchair. Despite prior coordination for accommodations, gate agents questioned her ability to stand and ultimately refused her boarding, stating all their aircraft require stairs.

Bode described the experience as “awful” and highlighted the accessibility challenges faced by travelers with disabilities
