A 34-year-old man was arrested and indicted Wednesday on sexually exploiting a child who authorities say was in his care as a foster child.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A 34-year-old man was arrested and indicted Wednesday on sexually exploiting a child who authorities say was in his care as a foster child.

According to the Department of Justice, a federal grand jury returned an indictment on Skyler Evans, who allegedly produced child sexual abuse material as recently as late March 2025. If he is found to be guilty, the charges bring a potential sentence of 15 to 30 years in prison, the department said. Evans is a former teacher at Hutchison High School and Tanana Middle School.

He also previously worked as an evening news anchor for KTVF from May 2023 to November 2024. Evans is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the new indictment on Monday, where he will appear before a U.S. magistrate judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska. According to the original police complaint, the victim was a foster care child in Evans’ care at the time of the abuse.

A spokesperson from the Office of Children’s Services told Alaska’s News Source that Evans was a licensed foster care provider from June 1, 2021, through Nov. 7, 2022. MORE: Full story on allegations against Skyler Evans Court documents state that Evans “coerced” a minor to help him produce sexually explicit content beginning from an unknown date until Aug. 25, 2023.

In the new indictment, Evans is being charged with one count each of sexual exploitation of a child-production of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. The DOJ said the FBI Anchorage Field Office is still investigating the case, with assistance from the Fairbanks Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Vosacek is prosecuting the case.
