Deputies from the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Dorset Township Saturday for a domestic violence incident.
DORSET TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Deputies from the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Dorset Township Saturday for a domestic violence incident.
The call was reported on Footville-Richmond Road, and the woman caller reported that a 42-year-old man returned home intoxicated and possessed a rifle. According to the sheriff’s office, the woman was inside the home with her two young children with the doors locked. During the incident, the man had backed the vehicle he had been driving into a ditch across the roadway from the home.
The man allegedly had possession of several firearms and was still on the property when deputies arrived. Two deputies encountered the man in the backyard of the home when he brandished a rifle he had been carrying, the sheriff’s office said. One of the deputies perceived the threat and fired one round at the man, dropping him to the ground with the rifle still in his hands.
