"That's what I have always been drawn to. I think of moments and I think of stories that we did, being on the field interviewing, and it's incredible to even think of.
To this day, Eric's sports career goes hand in hand with "Eric's Little Heroes," where he narrated us through the ups and downs and plentiful laughs of youth sports stars finding their way in the world of athletics. It wasn't a Super Bowl or Major League Baseball playoff game, but it meant just as much to the kids in those stories.or desperately wanted to be on Eric's Little Heroes," Johnson explained.
"It just changed the way you looked at it and people adored it. We had so much fun doing that for a long time. We were very proud of it." You see, anyone can "cover" a big-time event, but Eric's ability to illustrate the emotion one can only feel from being at the stadium or arena is unmatched. He made viewers feel like they were the athletes on the field of play. He saw things differently, he made sports fun. He made sure we all enjoyed that little corner of the newscast as a beacon of light in what can be a show full of difficult news.
