SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Springfield Township Police Department shared on social media Sunday that officers will be conducting increased traffic enforcement.

According to the department, it moved locations of its speed monitoring signs, and one of the new locations is already generating a high number of violations. The location of the new monitoring sign is in the 2100 block of Myersville Road, where the posted speed limit is 35 mph.

Within the first week, police said the Myersville location produced more speed violations than all previous sign locations combined during their first weeks.Police said alarmingly one vehicle was clocked at more than 45 mph over the posted speed limit.

The department shared that this level of speeding is unacceptable and poses a serious risk to everyone who lives, works and travels in the area. Effective immediately, officers are going to be conducting increased traffic enforcement in the area.

Springfield Township Police said sergeants have been directed to ensure officers proactively monitor the location between calls, and dedicated radar enforcement will be conducted as frequently as possible. Our goal is simple… to slow traffic down and keep our community safe. We are asking all drivers to be mindful of their speed, obey posted limits, and help us prevent unnecessary tragedies.
