SHREVEPORT, La. - Shreveport police confirmed the surviving child who escaped Sunday’s mass shooting by jumping off the roof is a 12-year-old girl, and she has been released from the hospital.
A family representative also addressed rumors circulating online about the mothers. Two mothers injured in the shooting have been discharged from the hospital and are aware of the tragic murders that happened on Sunday. Leshun Berry, an aunt of the three children, said Sariah had dreams of opening a homeless shelter and the boys wanted to be community leaders. Berry said two of the three mothers, Christina Snow and Keosha Pugh, were discharged from the hospital.
Shanique Elkins is still in the hospital recovering. Berry said the mothers are currently displaced and need donations during their time of recovery and healing.
“These three families are in unity. They’re gonna need stuff after. So the donations…we need those to keep coming in. Because how can we take them and put them back into the workforce?
How can we say after the funeral, take a few days off and go back to work? ” Berry said. Berry is the owner of a daycare center. She said donations can be made to the Valley of Hope Center for Kids at 2936 Greenwood Rd.
