DOTHAN, Ala. - A new McDonald’s opened at Hartford Highway and Ross Clark Circle, giving the city its eighth location. The restaurant is operated by Murphy Family Restaurants , which runs locations across south Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
Last year, Murphy Restaurants raised nearly $500,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, supporting more than 200 families from Houston County, according to Eddie Byrd, director of marketing for Murphy Family Restaurants.
“It’s taken several years to make this happen. So, all that time, all the planning, all the excitement to move the cones, to watch the first cars drive through, to support us, to support a brand and enjoy delicious food is one of the most exciting things. That’s just the main thing. We’re so happy that we are community-oriented,” Byrd said.
The restaurant will celebrate with a family fun day on Saturday, May 16, where Dothan’s newest Peanut Around Town statue will be unveiled.
