Southwest Airlines is changing its board of directors as the Dallas -based airline faces pressure from an activist investor and the need to be profitable for its shareholders. Last week, Southwest announced its executive Chairman Gary Kelly would not run for reelection in 2025 and six board members would resign after a quarterly board meeting in November.
Gilligan, 70, has served as director of the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University. He was also the business school dean at UT from 2008 to 2015. Gilligan holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Washington University. He’s been a board director since 2000 and was audit committee chairman. In 2023, Gilligan earned $282,538 in cash and stock awards. Soltau, 57, is the former CEO of JCPenney and former president and CEO of JoAnn Stores.
