CLEVELAND, Ohio - East 4th Street is one of Cleveland’s most popular destinations, packed with restaurants, bars and entertainment.“Security is number one. Myself, having numerous venues on the street, and my fellow business owners on the street.
We are really invested in not only security inside our facilities, but security up and down the street as well,” said Jason Beudert, Owner of Jolene’s Honky Tonk. For nearly a month, business owners on East 4th have been pooling resources to hire off-duty officers, paying for them out of their own pockets.“We have two off-duty police officers that go up and down the street patrolling. We are almost a month now and we are committed. This is a long-term strategy for us — in addition to the security that the city and the Cleveland Police Department provide as well,” said Beudert. The head of the security told 19 News the focus is visibility, proactive crowd management and clear communication, ensuring a safe, smooth experience from the opening pitch to last call. “East 4th has always been a family-friendly street, and with the additional security we are doing as private business owners, and the city of Cleveland, this is the safest the street has ever been,” said, Beudert.
