FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Step right on up and try your luck at the Alaska State Troopers ’ dunk tank at the Tanana Valley State Fair! AST is partnering with the Fairbanks Community Food Bank to raise funds and make a real splash.
When the fair opened on Friday AST Captain Spitzer himself, was enthroned on the dunk tank’s hot seat, calling for passers-by to line up for a throw or two. “Step right up,” he called, “You there boy, you look like you have an arm for soccer! I’m high and dry so far!” Spitzer did not stay dry for long, between the sudden downpour of rain and the keen marksmanship of the attendees who dunked him at least four times within the first half hour. While the main purpose of the fundraiser goes to help the Fairbanks Community Foodbank, as well as to buy a Safety Bear costume, Spitzer offers certain members of the community a discount. “There’s a special deal you might have heard,” he said. “If you have an arrest warrant you get four free throws.
