Seahawks Prioritize Secondary on Day 2 of 2026 NFL Draft

Seattle adds TCU safety Bud Clark and Arkansas cornerback Julian Neal, trading down to acquire additional draft capital. Other teams make notable selections, including the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams.

The Seattle Seahawks made significant moves to bolster their secondary during the second day of the 2026 NFL Draft. After addressing the running back position with their first-round pick, Jadarian Price, the Seahawks focused heavily on defensive backs, selecting TCU safety Bud Clark with the 64th overall pick.

Clark is known for his ball-hawking abilities, having recorded an impressive 15 interceptions during his time with the Horned Frogs. The team then executed a trade, moving down from pick 96 to 99 in a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, acquiring an additional sixth-round pick (No. 216) in the process. With the 99th pick, Seattle chose Arkansas cornerback Julian Neal, a tall and physical player expected to contribute to their defensive coverage.

Throughout the second and third rounds, several interesting picks were made by other teams. The San Francisco 49ers surprised many by selecting Ole Miss receiver De’Zhaun Stribling early in the second round, continuing their trend of adding offensive weapons. They followed up with Indiana’s Kaelon Black in the third round, a running back addition consistent with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch’s drafting history.

The Arizona Cardinals addressed their quarterback need by taking Miami’s Carson Beck in the third round, while the Los Angeles Rams focused on strengthening their offensive line and tight end positions with Ohio State’s Max Klare and Missouri’s Keegan Trost, respectively. A notable trend across the league was a run on tight ends, with eight players at the position being selected, a higher number than many anticipated.

The Seahawks appear to have bypassed the edge rusher class, with the top prospects already off the board by the end of Friday. The lack of interest in edge rushers was mirrored across the league, as players like Mike Washington and Jonah Coleman were still available heading into Day 3. The draft saw a flurry of activity, with teams trading picks to move up or down the draft board.

The full results of the second and third rounds reveal a diverse range of selections, with teams addressing various needs. Day 3 of the draft is set to resume on Saturday, April 25th, at 9 am PT, and will be broadcast on ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network. The Seahawks currently hold picks 188 and 216 in the sixth round, but do not have any selections in rounds 4, 5, or 7
