Taking a look at the countries history and voting trends, Dr. Amy Lovecraft considers Kamala Harris to have a slight advantage on Donald trump.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - On Monday, Dr. Amy Lovecraft , a professor of political science at the University of Alaska Fairbanks , gave a lecture and predicted Kamala Harris as the likely winner to become the President of the United States.
The lecture started with a simple poll in which the audience was asked who they thought would win the presidential election. The result was about 36% of the audience believing Trump would win and 63% giving the likely victory to Harris. Then, she discussed the dilemma of America’s two party system which she called inevitable due to the electoral system we have. This expanded to information about the history of the Democratic and Republican parties and who has historically been a part of those parties. Much of that data coming from polls created by think tanks such as the Pew Research Center and Gallup.
Another interesting part of the modern presidential elections is the electoral college has not voted in synchronization with the popular vote since the 2000 election. This is another issue that might be related to in increase of independent voters but it’s not the only interesting aspect of 21st century elections in America.
